What this job actually involves
Clearing versus brightening
Clearing is removing what is inside — leaves, grit, roof granules, the tennis ball. Brightening is the outside face, where you see vertical black streaks. People book one and expect both, so to be clear: they are separate work and we price them separately.
Those streaks will not pressure off
“Tiger striping” is oxidised aluminium mixed with road film and roof runoff, bonded to the paint. Pressure will not shift it; it will dent the gutter. It needs a dedicated gutter cleaner applied by hand, left to work, then rinsed. It is slower than people expect, which is why plenty of companies quietly skip it.
What we check while we are up there
- Fall. Standing water in a cleared gutter means the run is sagging or pitched wrong — a fixable problem worth knowing about.
- Downpipe flow. Every one gets flushed and watched. A blockage below the gutter is invisible from the ground until it overflows in the first storm.
- Fascia. Soft timber behind a gutter is a repair, not a wash, and we will point it out rather than paint over it with clean water.
